This balun system allows installers to take advantage of Cat5 (or higher) cable for making long runs of stereo audio. Baluns essentially convert the signal to send it across a Cat5 cable. On the opposite end the balun decodes the signal and converts it back to stereo audio.
Stereo Audio Cables > Balun > Cat5 Cable > Balun > Stereo Audio Cables
To use this system you would install one balun at the audio source by connecting the outputs of the audio source to the inputs of the balun. Then connect a Cat5 (or higher) cable to the back of the balun. On the receiving end you would install the other balun by connecting to the same Cat5 cable. Then connect the stereo audio outputs from the balun to the inputs of the device that you want to connect the audio to.
Note: In rare circumstances audio quality can be distorted due to a ground loop on your audio signal source. This can be corrected by installing a ground loop isolator.
