This balun system allows installers to take advantage of Cat5 (or higher) cable for making long runs of composite video. Baluns essentially convert the signal to send it across a Cat5 cable. On the opposite end the balun decodes the signal and converts it back to composite video.
Composite Video Cable > Balun > Cat5 Cable > Balun > Composite Video Cable
To use this system you would install one balun at the composite video source by connecting the output of the composite video source to the input of the balun. Then connect a Cat5 (or higher) cable to the back of the balun. On the receiving end you would install the other balun by connecting to the same Cat5 cable. Then connect the composite video output from the balun to the input of the device that you want to connect the composite video to.
Note: In rare circumstances video quality can be distorted due to a ground loop on your video signal source. This can be corrected by installing a ground loop isolator.
